What is the Maine Community Media Association?

The Maine Community Media Association is a nonprofit organization that serves as a hub for Public, Education and Government (P.E.G.) media and channels in Maine. Established in 2022 and replacing CTAM (circa 1982) MCMA supports local P.E.G. outlets with exclusive resources, training, and networking opportunities for its members.

Mission and Vision

The mission of MCMA is to advance democratic ideals by ensuring that people in Maine have access to electronic media. In order for democracy to flourish, people must be active participants in their government, educated to think critically, and free to express themselves. The sustainability of public access stations is a key element in local communication infrastructures, and a critical element to freedom of speech.

• Assist Non-Profit organizations in promoting their services and events to community television stations.

• Occasionally host regional conferences and participate in other conferences held nationally. 

• Seek legal opinions on behalf of Community Television stations.

• Maintain a web presence for assisting Community Television Stations in Maine, New England and Nationally.

• Support the ACM National & State lobbying efforts for Community Television friendly legislation

• Advocate on your behalf to resolve issues with your cable operator.

• MCMA is an Associate of Maine Municipal Association and is a centralized, 501c4 organization that represents the interests of all Maine Community Television stations.
